Dr. Shahram (Shawn) Rahmani works at Boeing as a Senior Technical Fellow. He has worked over 26 years on the US and international space programs, including two major space systems; the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. What is significant is that Dr. Rahmani is the only Iranian American to receive this medal from NASA's Administrator, Dr. Griffin.

The Exceptional Public Service Medal was presented to Dr. Rahmani at a ceremony held in January 2006 at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Rahmani was honored for his technical contributions as a member of the NASA Task Force/Advisory Expert Council Joint Commission in resolving safety and operational issues of the International Space Station and for enhancing the working relationship between NASA and the Russian Federal Space Agency. Dr. Rahmani's achievement should be encouraging for all Iranian Americans, especially the younger generation who wants to advance in the areas of science and technology. As a community we are proud of Dr. Rahmani and wish him success in his future programs.
